Keeping a Clean Home

Five Things You Should Probably Clean But Never Do

Keeping a clean home is anything but easy.

Some areas of your formerly clean home are more prone to accumulating dirt than others. These particular areas shouldn’t be put on the back burner. Major appliances and small areas of your home require just as much cleaning as other areas, but they are often ignored.

Refrigerator Coils

These definitely aren’t in plain sight, so be sure to set a reminder to clean coils. Many people don’t realize that refrigerator coils have to be cleaned in the first place. This means they can often go years without being cleaned at all.

When your coils are dirty, your fridge has to work twice as hard to keep the food within it cold. It’s advisable that you vacuum your coils in order to remove dirt, dust, and pet hair, which tend to cling to the coils.

Ceiling Fans

The blades of your ceiling fans collect a lot of dust and dander, which negatively impacts the air quality within your home. As soon as you notice dust accumulating on the blades of the fan, wipe them down with a damp cloth and dry them. If you don’t feel comfortable climbing a ladder to clean them, we can help. We provide a variety of upholstery and furniture cleaning services.

Baseboards

Baseboards don’t always come to mind when you think of a clean home, but they do accumulate scuff marks and dust. This means they need to be scrubbed now and then.

Clean baseboards do make quite a difference to the feel of a space. We just don’t always realize it. Wipe down baseboards with a cleaning eraser and vacuum up leftover dust. Take a dry cloth and tidy up the remainder. You’ll notice how big of a difference it makes.

Shower Heads

Shower heads are prone to mineral buildup, since they are constantly exposed to water. You don’t have to spend money on special cleaners just to get your shower head to sparkle. Simply fill a plastic bag with white vinegar and place the shower head in the bag. Hold it there for several minutes and release the bag. Scrub lightly with a toothbrush and watch as the vinegar works to dissolve the residue.

Inside Your Appliances

This is something we tend to want to forget, but the insides of your appliances get pretty grungy if they are not cleaned regularly. Splattered and spilled food can be an eyesore, not to mention unsanitary – especially when you are cooking in them all the time. Some major appliances within your home that require cleaning on a monthly basis are your dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, microwave, and fridge.
